Reports to: Vice President, Content
Location: Alpharetta, GA
This position will have ultimate responsibility for the publication, including the overall direction of all departments, determining the magazine’s target market, overseeing personnel along with resources and budgeting. You will also build the magazine’s revenue and profits by increasing sales, developing new revenue streams and direct the magazine’s effort on the web, as well as live events.
RESPONSIBILITIES (include but are not limited to):
•Set the magazine’s overall direction, including editorial, marketing, circulation and sales.
•Bottom line responsibility for meeting revenue and profit goals.
•Oversee sales staff and sales efforts.
•Determine the target markets, personnel and production schedule.
•Work with and direct the resources for producing the publication, including working with the financial team on the budget and allocating and controlling costs.
•Oversee role in Emerald Expositions shows; work with editors and show directors to build and develop revenue streams through joint or singular efforts.
•Oversee and work with editorial and sales team to plan, organize and direct ancillary revenue streams.
•Work with the digital management and technical teams to develop revenue streams and budget.
•Act as spokesperson for the publication.
•Represent publication on industry committees, boards, etc.
•May work a sales territory as well as make calls on accounts with reps.
•Develop sales training plan.
•Provide financial and other business reports, as needed.
•Strong verbal and written communication skills

•MS Office Suite, TMM Sales Management Program, Database
•Bachelor’s degree required (business or liberal arts preferred)
•10 years’ experience in magazine management
•Broad knowledge of magazine publishing
•Prior management experience.
•Prior budgetary experience.
